I read the article posted by a retired Fire Captain and was truly upset and found it difficult to believe. Read this stuff and be honest, have you ever felt this way about what we have done as Firefighters? Have you ever become dependent on any stress relief systems that may have resulted in an unwanted behavior?…Continue

There are many ways to lose your life, property and future. So many ways are provided to anyone who can pay to destroy their life. Drugs that were developed to perform miracles that would make a suffering human free of the burden of symptoms that are debilitating, are instead abused to relieve a symptom of having too much of everything, except the one thing needed for peace of…Continue

How do you react fast to situations?
In my opinion shock from a life altering situation is the most immediate issue for casualties; in this case the most effective treatment is immediate action and medical care to resolve their issue. Each member at my station trains regularly and talks openly about… What would we do in a hypothetical situation?... How a call affected us as individuals and as a team? and/or… How would we do better…Continue
I wish to ask for the support of everyone to help launch a campaign to raise funds for our new foundation and Fire Brigade.
The National Fire Protection Association has drawn up a set of protocols to address CRR [ community risk reduction]. The input of the members and guests here who have years of experience would be very valuable.

I visited a site that was reporting an assault on a Firefighter by a young boy. I was, as always, very concerned at the negative emotions all the grown ups were displaying toward the offending entity. The following link to a video will let the reader…Continue
Defense Secretary say's of the Fort Hood shooting: "Something is not working"?
I still respect Secretary Hagel but I am sad to hear such a "politicians" statement from an "old salt" ( in NAVY parlance) who has…
Around the world citizens of small communities and mega-cities have dedicated, caring and very capable people who serve their fellow citizens to the best of their ability. Sometimes in doing so they sacrifice themselves in the effort to save others.…Continue

People died recently in a motel fire and the issue became citing the motel builders for not having a sprinkler system installed. Now the "angels of mercy" have called for new rules to be enforced so no more people die from this believed preventable tragedy.
My response to this cry for change was the following few…Continue

I once had the opportunity to see a building slated for a controlled burn in my town. Actually it was right next door to my home so I had a front row seat.
It was decided by the volunteer fire department top officers to burn the whole thing as it stood. The building was an old creamery so it was very large and dry as…Continue
I have been able to be a positive force in the lives of so many people who were in need over the many years as a Firefighter and as a long distance truck driver. I have never looked for the opportunities to be helpful because my life was difficult enough to handle so I was spread pretty thin already. But if ever I was called to duty as a Volunteer Firefighter I was willing to drop whatever was my previous charge and go.…Continue
Willie & JO
He meant so much to the millions of Americans who fought in World War II, and to those who had waited for them to come home. He was a kid cartoonist for Stars and Stripes, the military newspaper; Mauldin's drawings of his muddy, exhausted, whisker-stubble infantrymen Willie and Joe were the voice of truth about what it was like on the front lines. …

As you can see young Mr. Lilyea, the government is doing what it may at it's own pace. You just need to be calm.
