Firefighters open chat room for serious learning and sharing without fear

I post this blog to bring more attention to an article released on FireRescue 1 about the decision made by an Arizona Fire Chief who could not respond to a call very near his station because it was out of the jurisdictional parameter of his command.

The link gives the details and readers can comment there but I wish to have input from the Chiefs on our site as to what they feel would have been their actions if they found themselves in the same situation.

I feel the decision made by the Chief was the correct one based on the cities regulations.

I was asked, who informs people of the details of the public services responsibility to the community served. I respectfully submit two words, town meetings.

It is hard to weep for those who choose to be ignorant and leave everything up to "others". It is the responsibility of every citizen to engage the community offices responsible for the welfare of everyone. It is but once a month for a few hours, if you can not make time and give up some of your other activities then I am confident you will be very upset when you are in need someday and no one is there to help.
