HEROES.... YOU CAN NOT LIVE WITH THEM AND CAN NOT LIVE WITHOUT THEM

People,

 

Lately I have been hearing the thunder from across the network about the term, title and use of the word HERO.

 

We who have made the choice to serve the public in so many ways from surgeons to girl and boy scouts are all HEROES as we give of ourselves without regard to the cost because we believe in the goodness and love in our hearts.

 

HEROES follow a light and the beat of a drum when others choose to ignore or can not muster the courage to do the same.

 

HEROES do not look for "action" they simply respond when needed. They do not pat themselves on the back because that is not what a HERO does, in fact most of them are repulsed by the idea that they are HEROES, they always say they are "just doing their job" .

 

HEROES feel good when they help others to any degree, be it pulling someone from danger or just opening a door for a child, their hearts are happy.... that is the HEROES way.

 

HEROES speak out against what is wrong and fight for what is right and never complain about life as they have what it takes to accept the world on it's own terms.

 

HEROES like themselves enough to LOVE their fellow human beings without reservation or condition. They accept the harsh, sometimes cruel words and actions of others, rise above the pain and give themselves again and again. It is what HEROES are made of...... "the right stuff".

 

I feel we should all accept that we are HEROES when we do what is correct, just and courageous. When we decide to give ourselves to the world and are willing to accept any and all consequences for our actions.

 

Never be comfortable with the name HERO when it is assigned to you, just accept it because .... you have earned it.

 

Be well and safe Brothers and Sisters and know that you are all HEROES to the children who gaze in wide eyed amazement as a fire truck screams to an emergency and to the adults who anxiously await your arrival to save a life or piece of property.

 

I tell you now what I know to be the truth.... you people are all made of "THE RIGHT STUFF".... accept it because the world can not live with them and can not live without them.... HEROES!

I never easily accept being called or calling others a HERO because it detracts from the fact that I or others simply love the world, and being cited for this invites attention that is unwanted by most and needed desperately by some who would take unnecessary risks for this attention which too often leads to undesirable results.

Eight years ago I offered this blog that was given to myself by my muse, so I am not usually completely aware for what I say or write down until after I am finished.

Most people say or write what is in their heads, but my protracted offerings almost always come from my heart, so often I am surprised by what it is I have to offer when I read what I just wrote. But except for correcting the grammar, I just post the stuff and accept the consequences.
