I am a "man", ( a human being, a person, a member of the human race).
I have a presence, beliefs and possibly a soul (spirit). I am responsible for my words..actions and thoughts and must be mindful of the needs of my "family" ( everyone else). I must understand that I am not alone and so I must take responsibility for everything in this life without hesitation as it is a fact that together we prevail.... divided we fail.
To understand that everything I do, think and say will have an effect.. positive or negative to some degree, be it slight or monumental and choose to be responsible and always strive to be a member of the whole that results in benefit to myself and everyone else keeps me sane.
I can not help anyone else until I am willing to love and accept myself so I may see in others what I like about me, this is another "key" to inner peace.
To accept that I am one of many who must follow a course that is one of support of the rest to bind us all as every cell in our bodies work to perpetuate the health of the "one", the living electrical/ bio-mechanical tool that is ourselves individually but the human race in total.
If we fail to perfect this charge we are no different than a rouge cell within the individual being that will eventually destroy the whole as a disease would destroy the body.
Everyone must realize that all "life" is connected. All manner of living thing on our earthly host as well as our "mother" ( earth) itself must be understood to be a part of each other and so must be respected and loved because to lose any portion completely will be the eventual end of the rest.
Every individual who has made the choice to be a public servant has heard the song in their hearts that empowers them to embrace the concept and mindset of this posting and be a part of the whole no matter what the cost to themselves even if they do not fully understand why.
I have recently felt the power, determination and love of my "family" who came to rescue me after I was seriously injured in an automobile accident and trapped in the wreckage. To know I was not alone and help would come comforted me in a way that could not be equaled by possessions, power or physical gratification of any kind. To be secure in the fact that I was a human being and so I mattered enough for others to risk their safety to come for me because we are one and the life of each touches all the rest.
I am very glad to be a part a group that has at their core the loving nature to give of themselves because every Firefighter knows that I am,... you are,... he, she or it is,... all worth the sacrifice.
Additionally my thank you to A-1 Towing of Gallup New Mexico who spent two days recovering my personal effects from the scene of the accident. They managed to retrieve almost everything including small items that had only minimal value. These people truly "cared" about me and understood my suffering so did their best to ease my loses.
Also my thank you to P.H.I. Air Medical who's life saving helicopter brought me to the University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque where I was treated expertly by friendly, loving and dedicated staff who were all professionals of the highest order and my deepest gratitude to John Gunlogson of Keenan & Associates who was the case manager and adjuster for my incident who went far beyond the call of his job duties and helped me in retrieving my personal possessions as well as picking up prescriptions and affording me proper attire to manage my return trip to Nebraska as I had no family or acquaintances to help me.
Be well and stay safe everyone.
