STAY UP TO DATE WITH THE LATEST INFORMATION ABOUT DIOXINS, PPE USE AND UPKEEP AND FOLLOW THE LEAD OF THOSE WHO HAVE SURVIVED FOR DECADES DOING THIS VERY DEADLY JOB.

Most of what a rank and file "hose stretcher" needs to know to work safely can only be learned by doing and taking advice from qualified leaders. Usually that will be from other Firemen who are still doing the "boots on the ground" jobs, not from the officers who are in "command" of incidents whose primary reason for being in command is to be admired and respected. These are the people who keep allowing Firemen to be injured or killed.

Here is an example of what I cite Fire Officers for which I feel makes them more often than not, poor leaders: FIRE CHIEF TEXTING WHILE DRIVING

This type of department leader is not what the service needs to help reduce the number of LODD's and injuries which grow in numbers every year in spite of all the new advances in protective equipment and tactical training available for today's Firemen.
