I am a Red Cross volunteer in Nebraska who is currently out of service from my local chapter. I know first hand about the challenges for the volunteers that try to set a plan then see it to fruition in the field.

I have been at meetings and heard too many complaints about "this supervisor" or "that chapter" that did not meet with the approval of our members and on and on went the meeting without giving much time to the exercise we met for. They all seemed a bit more eager to "climb the ladder" to become supervisors so they could be in charge than they were to be good and productive volunteers.

I mentioned this fact and was no longer invited to meetings. In the end I received a telephone communication to tell me I was "not a good fit" and would no longer be allowed to volunteer. They cancelled my membership so I may no longer sign into the Red Cross website or communicate with other members.
