Fear and hate are, have been and always will be the "mind killers" that will consume all who choose to act before they think.
For every "right" that is afforded to any people under any social structure there are enormous responsibilities and duties that must be undertaken by everyone. No one has any "rights" unless they earn them.
America today is full of people who declare they have the right to this or that who have never shed blood, sweat or tears and refuse to take responsibility for what they say and do. I feel until this changes we as a people will never know or understand what the founders of our nation had in mind.
I have lived to see the population of the world go from about two billion to over six billion and I have witnessed war, famine, and disease personally. I have studied history on an amateur level and believe that our country is now more divided because of the blue states and red states and all the fear and hate these entities have created then we were when divided last by the blue states and the gray states.
I am nearing the end of my life and I am grateful as I do not see the America I once knew any more. All that I see are people who feel comfortable saying "hooray for me and to hell with you" as they lie, cheat and steal all they can every day. Too many have adopted the "ME" mentality and have completely lost the "WE" that has been the driving force and guiding light in the past which always made this nation great.
All my life I have tried to do what I was taught was right by my family, clergy and national leaders when your words, actions and thoughts were tempered by self respect, sense of duty and a moral compass that was developed by our nation working together for the good of all. We never missed the opportunity to give of ourselves no matter what the personal cost because we believed that "united we stand... divided we fall".
